My Essay on Songwriting in Online Magazine - July 22, 2010
For what it's worth: Here's an essay I wrote a while back, by request, on the songwriting process as I often experience it. It has been published in the online music magazine for emPower Music and Arts on their PowerPlant page.

Take Action: FedEx Express: Drivers aren't pilots - June 16, 2010
http://action.americanrightsatwork.org/campaign/fedex2010/
FedEx Express doesn't want its truck drivers, loaders, and sorters to form unions. So more than a decade ago, it landed a sweetheart deal to classify them as "pilots."
A bill to close the loophole - which essentially blocks over 90,000 FedEx Express workers from joining a union - has passed the House of Representatives. Now the Senate needs to finish the job! But that's only going to happen if we speak out NOW!
A Heartbreaking Picture of A Bird Off of the Coast of Louisiana, and a Symbol of Our Oil Addiction - June 6, 2010
http://microblogbuzz.com/redirect/70308134
This is a vivid symbol of what is happening to Americans as well as wildlife on our Gulf Coast right now.
Is it time to stop the denial? Is it finally time to stand up to the oil companies and their apologists in Congress, to be courageous Americans and do what we should and know how to do?

How You Can Help Wildlife Impacted by the BP Oil Spill - June 5, 2010
>> NEWS: Dolphin, sea turtle deaths only the tip of the iceberg
http://www.nwf.org/Wildlife/Wildlife-Conservation/Threats-to-Wildlife/Oil-Spill.aspx
The catastrophic oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico caused by the April 20, 2010 explosion of an offshore oil rig has put local economies, wildlife and the Gulf's delicate coastal ecosystem at risk. This could be one of the worst environmental disasters in our nation's history. Our immediate task is clear: all resources of British Petroleum, federal and state government and even the U.S. military must be deployed to cap the well, contain the spill and minimize the damage to one of our nation's crown jewels: the Mississippi Delta.

We Lost Mary Travers - September 17, 2009
Mary Travers made her transition to the next plane of existence yesterday at the age of 72. Her battle with leukemia is over.
I had a folk group in high school that became school sponsored. We performed at school functions, charitable events, even on local tv.
We played almost exclusively music by Peter, Paul, and Mary. I bought all their albums and songbooks. They taught me to fingerpick and play high capo parts. They taught me harmony.
They have inspired me with their social activism and courage.
The voice of Mary Travers will be in my inner music for the rest of my life.
See you on the other side, Mary. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
