Will Ferrell Tells Us Who The "Real Victims" Are In The Healthcare Crisis - September 23, 2009

We Lost Mary Travers - September 17, 2009

Mary Travers made her transition to the next plane of existence yesterday at the age of 72. Her battle with leukemia is over.
I had a folk group in high school that became school sponsored. We performed at school functions, charitable events, even on local tv.
We played almost exclusively music by Peter, Paul, and Mary. I bought all their albums and songbooks. They taught me to fingerpick and play high capo parts. They taught me harmony.
They have inspired me with their social activism and courage.
The voice of Mary Travers will be in my inner music for the rest of my life.
See you on the other side, Mary. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Stop The Hate On FOX - September 9, 2009

Dear friends,
As you may know, right-wing talk show hosts have been bringing race-based fear mongering into the mainstream, but FOX's Glenn Beck has taken it to another level.

I signed ColorOfChange.org's petition to stop Glenn Beck's lies and distortions, and so far, 62 major companies have stopped their ads from running on his show. These companies have decided they don't want to be associated with Beck's race-baiting.

But Beck is only stepping up his fear-mongering, so we can't stop now. We have to make sure advertisers keep leaving, and stay away from his show.

Will you take a stand and be counted, and invite your friends and family to do the same? It takes just a moment:

medical bankruptcies - September 1, 2009

From the American Journal of Medecine:
62% of all American bankruptcies are linked to medical bills. 78% of these people had health nsurance (but it was inadequate). In the last 6 years, there has been a 50% increase in bankruptcies linked to medical bills. This is the system we are so in love with?

MRSA in America - August 1, 2009

If our medical system is so great (as our insurance companies assert):
Why do we have the highest MRSA rate in the modern industrialized world?
Why do we have the worst diagnostic methodology for detecting deadly and debilitating infectious diseases such as MRSA, Lyme Disease, and Bartonella?

The time for a single payer national health system is now!! - July 25, 2009

http://www.pnhp.org/facts/single_payer_resources.php

Physicians for a National Health Program is a single issue organization advocating a universal, comprehensive single-payer national health program. PNHP has more than 16,000 members and chapters across the United States.

Since 1987, we've advocated for reform in the U.S. health care system. We educate physicians and other health professionals about the benefits of a single-payer system--including fewer administrative costs and affording health insurance for the 46 million Americans who have none.

Naked Demos is on CD Baby! - August 22, 2008

Naked Demos on CD Baby - Alan's New CD
(Go to "Buy" section to purchase)
"Naked Demos" is a compilation of songs that capture the roots and heart of Alan Ross Haynes, past to present. It scans recordings from 2003 to 2008, utilizing three different sound engineers, but all mastered and produced under the guidance of the incredibly gifted Mark Dann of Mark Dann Recordings. Some of the songs- mostly the newest- are bare bones productions, incorporating only guitar, vocal, and bass (and brilliant piano work by Melissa Holland!). Thus the cd title. Others incorporate harmonica, vocal harmonies, percussion, keyboards, and the slide electric mastery of Vito Petrocitto. And yes, Alan appears on the cover wearing only a guitar. This is Rockabilly Outlaw Country Americana ranging from love songs to portraits of rural America to piercing laugh-out-loud satire. Put your crash helmets on.
